Although our visit to Dusit Thani Bangkok just lasted a few hours, it was nothing short of amazing and after returning back to Chiang Mai and going through all the material we amassed, we knew that we have to put together a detailed blog post.

Dusit Thani Bangkok is conveniently located in the centre of Thailand’s vibrant capital, just on the opposite of the famous Lumphini Park with fantastic access to public transportation and blends warm sophistication with unparalleled service in this bustling city. The distinctive shape makes the hotel identifiable from far while the outstanding service makes you feel home away from home.

As we arrived, we were waiting in the sunken lobby lounge for Ploy, the hotel’s lovely PR manager, who later showed us all the facilities. She has not only a thorough knowledge of the hotel and its history, but when it comes to recommendations on what to do & see in Bangkok, she is dead on!

Service Experience

Long story short, Dusit Thani Bangkok reflects heartfelt Thai hospitality in every aspect. It started with the doorman (you gotta see the amazing uniforms of the doormen here, all dressed as traditional Thai guards), the always smiling receptionists over the superb spa therapists to the attentive staff at 22 Kitchen & Bar, everyone was amazing and bend over backwards service. The great attention to detail is another point which needs to be highlighted here, as friendliness is one thing, but going the extra mile (or in our case, miles) is another. We dedicated a separate post to the amazing Devarana Spa.

The Service

The Guests

Dusit Thani Bangkok is definitely geared towards business travellers. Most guests we saw were typically dressed in business-casual clothes doing talks with partners/colleagues or just returned back from meetings. But at the same time, we also saw a few well-off families which was probably due to Christmas and the festive days. The proof is in the pudding as you can even find a list of photos from celebrities and royalties that visited Dusit Thani Bangkok since its opening, exhibited in a small aisle near the lobby.

The Rooms

The 517 rooms and suites are very spacious (from 35 sqm) and offer the needed comfort after a long business day or shopping marathon. The modern and tasteful interior with its warm colours creates a tranquil atmosphere that lets you easily forget the hustle and bustle of the city. Aside various room categories such as Superior, Deluxe and Dusit Club, the hotel offers as well unique themed suites such as the impressive Thai Heritage Suites that resemble ancient Thai kingdoms such as Sukhothai or Lanna. All rooms come along with marvellous city views while the luxury amenities provide all necessities you can imagine. The staff, of course, is 24 hours at your service while no request seems too much.

Devarana Spa

The menu offers an extensive yet impressive selection of treatments from Lavender Body Scrub over Aromatic Thai Herbal Steam to its signature treatment, Devarana Signature Massage. The therapists are highly skilled and, upon request, focus absolutely on pain relief by applying pressure to specific points like head, neck and shoulders. Here’s our review.

Food & Drinks

After our relaxing spa treatment, we had the pleasure of dining at 22 Kitchen & Bar, a popular panoramic rooftop restaurant with terrific views over skyscrapers, Bangkok’s mad traffic and bright neon signs as far as the eye can see. The menu offers unique delicious dishes of Pacific Coastal Cuisine, created by native Hawaiian chef Nikolas Ramirez, such as Kim Chi Quesadilla, Grilled Miso-Garlic Butterfish or Peruvian Seafood Risotto. We were first served warm bread along with homemade butter, followed by our refreshing mocktails (Sour Cherry and Mojito) and the three mains just a short while later: Lobster Pappardelle Pasta, Grilled Opakapaka – Short Tail Pink Snapper and Grilled Leg of Lamb. The luscious combination of pasta and lobster was fantastic while the piquant grilled leg of lamb was surprisingly tender. We are by far no aficionados of lamb dishes, but needless to say that this one blew us away. The grilled snapper (boneless) was tasty as well and comes along with homemade black truffle tofu. Our dinner was rounded up by Fried Apple Pie, a mouthwatering combination of hot apple pie with butterscotch ice cream, in addition to Cinnamon-Sugar Churros with caramel dipping sauce (that type of snack you keep on eating and eating only to be kinda sad when you realize it’s finished).

Overall, the restaurant’s furnishing is kept in warm and modern colours with comfortable seats while the tranquil atmosphere relaxes after a long day of meetings or shopping and lets you easily spend several hours up here. The restaurant’s manager Mr. Adisorn Thawiburut (Aey) and the management trainee Mr. Grasitpatt Wattanaraweewong (Fight) were looking fabulously after us. Oh, don’t forget to visit the restrooms (yes, you read right), they offer probably one of the best views you can imagine. 22 Kitchen & Bar takes both, reservations and walk-ins.
